My take:
A little change up and modernization from the original 1985 version of this movie is worth the time to take and watch this movie. As with many other remakes, I was a little apprehensive at first and didn't want to be let down with something that didn't come up to par with the original. I didn't read any reviews before I watched it, I love making up my own mind without any influence of what other people have to say.
There are some fun changes from the original. For myself, the original was more funny than scary and this edition packs a lot more terror than comedy. The vampire is hot (thank you Colin Farrell!) and the other actors bring a credibility to this is something that could happen. During the film I could even picture my neighbor as a vampire. Some modernization of the storyline and moving the scene to a suburb outside of Vegas helps the storyline too.
The one thing that caught me off-guard was the actor who portrayed Peter Vincent the vampire slayer. In the original Vincent is an old man that has his own television show, in this version Vincent is a successful attractive adult who has his own show on the Las Vegas strip.
With all the updates, increased special effects this movie is sure to entice the younger generation to watch it. I love the original and this one is just an updated version with a modernized storyline. Both will have their place in cinema.
